I've wondered about doing this. Is it reasonably safe to be riding up Mushroom?

I thinks it's signed as multiuse, two way, its pretty wide, should be ok, people should know by now to expect other uses/climbers on the trail. Might be an issue on busy weekends when the Ned Heads are getting their strava on!

I've seen people hiking there and have never had a problem with people descending. If I am climbing anything besides the Fromme ascent, Mtn Highway, Old Buck or Penny Lane/GSM I am listening and paying attention for people descending at speed, haven't been surprised yet.

Climbing trails [HTML_REMOVED] gravel roads. Every single time.

I climbed No Quarter last night for the first time. I was not happy with my effort. Going up the root wall all I could think was that I was going to be so happy to get to Mountain Hwy (to 7th). But when I got there a funny thing happened…I wasn't. It was just the same old monotony as always. I think I'll be climbing No Quarter from now on unless really pressed for time, and I look forward to seeing my times decrease and my climbing improve.

No quarter is a great challenge, if you can clean the whole thing without stopping or dabbing you know you have skills and fitness.

It's really just the rooty skid road section that destroys you.

Every time I'm able to add another section to what I can manage consecutively I feel quite proud of myself. I'm at a point now where the very idea of doing the whole thing consecutively is conceivable. But for now I'd settle for 4 big chunks.

Never thought I could make the whole thing but finally did it the other day…2 really quick dabs but kept forward momemtum. Took about 60 min. A couple of my trouble spots have been made "easier" but it's still a tough one. Now to do it totally clean!
Curious as to how long some of the very fit guys do it in….I KNOW you guys keep track!

Wow. I gotta pick up the pace. And maybe a more climbing-oriented bike. Or not.

I might come close to making it on the women's leader board on a good day. I am off the charts slow on the men's board.

I can make all the sections, just need breaks between sections to stuff the lungs back down, let the legs settle, then once the stars stop spinning round I go again.

Good fun, though!!!

That's cheating. Starting from the bottom of Penzoil is the official start. All these riders are DQ'd.

Is that not effectively the bottom of penzoil? If anything it is slightly further
