There used to be a hand car at the end of Cheakamus lake but that was replaced with a bridge. I used the hand car once during the Rubble Creek Classic in 85 or 86. Kinda fun. There is still a hand car over the Cheakamus down near the athletes village but it's locked up. Don't know what it's purpose is now as there are bridges a short distance downstream. That could be an interesting crossing though. Or maybe rebuild the bridge further upstream.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

I can tell you 100% a public cable car is not gonna happen on Metro land.

The bonus is you won't have to worry about your phone getting wrecked when you do swim.

those kayak pics look terrifying.

Those Pictures don't do it justice. After many years of paddling whitewater I lost 3 friends to it including one on the seymour and also there a quadraplegic person now because of that run.
After that I just didn't have the same yearn for it anymore. Lynn creek was my favorite run tighter than seymour but less consequences and the only run on the shore I did not have friend die on.

Whistler is going to be putting in a suspension bridge across the Cheakamus from Trash to Trainwreck just so they can hopefully get people to stop walking down the train tracks….it's less than 100,000 if memory serves me correct, and likely will get way less traffic than twin bridges received. I think it's pretty interesting that replacing twin bridges has so quickly been dismissed before options have really been looked at, especially for such a critical, high traffic, crossing.

wait till they realize the high risk of many people swimming across or balancing on the pipes.
