Natures proved man wrong time and time again

http://metrovancouver.org/Documents/SeymourRiverRockslide-updateDec8.pdf

Depends on the man … sure the unexpected could happen, but that was the conclusion from a geotechnical/hydrological survey of the area and water continues to drain over the top of the blockage. A bigger danger at the moment appears to be a storm surge from the sea.

Way too soon to say that. Tons of people use that interface to join the demo forest to Mt. Seymour and, just like the demo forest paved-10km, there will be significant pressure to re-open Fishermans.

It is also used for LSCR/Metrovan vehicles to tie together their responsibilities.

If the pillars are fine it won't be that expensive to fix?

If he is not busy sandbagging his place our resident Combat Enguneer could give some info on this.

I would imagine if the supports or pillars were undercut by the current, the bridge might be done. The concrete may still be good, but if the material surrounding it isn't then it doesn't much matter.

I agree though, it sounds way to early to say anything for certain yet.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Twin Bridges earlier today.

I was down there 4:30pm on Monday. Fishermans above Twin Bridges was not under water, and unless water levels rise 20 feet it won't be. The river starts pooling at the swimming hole right beside where the tunnel is on Fishermans. Above that it's still the same.

I think the image is James Healey's and it's from Tuesday mid-day.

Seems you're a day behind councillor. :)

Lol ,considering our votes for Councillor Bond my household thought that we should have live update feeds from the district now…

but yes , i agree that is the same shot we saw yesterday afternoon . even if the dams floodgates were closed . it only stands to reason that twin bridges would be completely submerged at this point today

Stole this bit of nerding from Rewoga's face FB…

some flood comparisons for everyone (because I am a nerd and keep data). 10-12 Nov 2007 - max flow recorded on the Browns River was 62.95 cubic meters per second (cms). 13-16 Nov 2009 - max flow on the Browns was 115.72 cms. 10-12 Jan 2010 - max flow on the Browns was 120.14 cms. This last storm cycle saw a high flow on the Browns of 253.92 cms recorded at 7:55 am on Dec 9th… WOW!
