Hey Congrats...Think we are living parallel lives. My son arrived 6 weeks ago. Funny we have the same appreciation for the time out there riding now.

Congrats to you as well, ours is just over 5 months now... I'm sure many people have told you "it gets easier", well it actually does in some ways even from that early stage to now, sleep is way better than it was a few months ago! Enjoy the ride.

Every time when I think about NOT riding, I have to think about what you told me all those years ago - If you want to improve your riding, you need to ride as often as possible and speed does not really matter. Just get the miles in and the rest will follow.

You could put anything in there; riding, lifting, playing the guitar, learning a language, whatever, consistency is huge in getting good at something.

That's why I'm always trying to be a smart-ass on here.

That is an awesome idea. Engraining proper patterns. Nice one. Really nice one.

“I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like

It's got a basket, a bell that rings

And things to make it look good

I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it” - Syd Barrett

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.

I've stumbled across consistent riding nirvana.

I ride every Monday at 5pm, rain or shine year round, same location. Originally this was to carve out consistent scheduled time away from family duties to do rehab for a broken knee. Now everyone has gotten used to that time slot being blacked out and it's just a given, no need for the previous ride negotiating. It's MTB Monday.

Been over 2 years now and it's turned into a group ride. (Unfortunately of mostly hammerheads. I think a couple weeks ago we had the entire podium out from the weekend's road race). Sometimes this is my only ride of the week, but the real benefit is that it's a focal point that keeps me stretching all week in preparation and even eating better. I've dropped weight, my list of debilitating injuries has been become manageable, and it's just easier to cope when happiness is on your schedule.
