Physical Assault (or worse) Thwarted Today: Woodlot
good on them to saving her
But in what world is the first thing you do, not call the police? Kinda baffles me to be honest.
There's some freak wandering about in the woods, maybe looking for his next victim and you are just thinking about calling the police? Come on. If you don't report it, you're as much an accessory to this guys next assault.
OK yes, maybe I should have taken the lead on this one and not just asked the witnesses to call the police but insisted. My thinking was that we didn't have any description of the guy other than a jacket and ballcap and by the time the police got there he would be long gone. But as you point out maybe not. Maybe the police would have dispatched a team and found him before dark. There's a lot of maybe's but the best I can do at this point is either file a report myself or convince the witness to do so.

file the report yourself.
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

OK I call RCMP and get the report started. Hopefully they will have more luck getting in contact with the two witnesses than me.
This is just messed up.
What time of day was this? And where in relation to the bottom of Snakes and Ladders did this happen?

File a report yourself as we'll. notify your friend that you did, and that may prompt them to do the same. The sooner it's done the quicker the police can notify local media warning that there is a potential rapist on the loose. Who cares if all you saw was a camp jacket and ball cap. Look at all the effort the police goes through for your basic jackass thief with just a basic clothing description to go off of!
We didn't see him get in a vehicle .
I'm talking about the forestry vehicle. Driver of said vehicle didn't witness savagery of assault so what if maybe she got cold feet and downplayed event he mighta' just let her off side of the road?????
He's now possibly the only link between victim and police.
Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

Happened at approx. 3:30pm. I think it happened at about the halfway mark between the dildo exit and snakes exit along that flat fireroad. On the line right now to file a report, been on hold for 5 mins.

Gotcha. Yeah. The situation was handled poorly by us. Honestly we were all stunned and didn't know what to do. Not sure what my idea to call the police was shut down so.
Keven if you would of reported it right away they would if been able to pull the guys image from the transit camera. I worked for translink 7 years ago and back then they would record on a 4 hour loop, hopefully that has been extended.
Cool for your buddies helping out……..I don't know about not going the distance and really helping out, not something I would of done.

Yeah I'm kicking myself for a few things. One, I should have pedaled back and checked out what the scream was. Two, I should have called the police as soon as the witnesses told me about what happened. I guess they trusted that the forestry workers that they handed the woman off to would deal with it.
I've filed a police report with Maple Ridge RCMP, apparently they are going to call me back.
They said there's not much they can do about it without knowing who the victim is and into whose custody she was released to. A quick database check indicated that neither the forestry workers, the witnesses or the victim filed a report. The police are now getting in contact with one of the witnesses. Hopefully they get a lead.
From your description, it sounds like it occurred on the Trans Canada Trail, south of the powerlines.

It occurred on that decommissioned road halfway between that FSR switchback and the snakes and ladders exit. Incident was seen on the downhill side in the woods.
This is just fucked up, it hits close to home after saving a friend of mine being raped a few years back. Wish I saw this weasel he would've had a really rough time. Props to your buddies for doing the right thing.
