BC Parks should open the old parking area at the corner of Mt. Seymour Rd and Indian River as overflow for Old Buck. With some improvements, that could hold most of the traffic that currently goes to Parkgate.
I have always wondered why that was closed off. Still don't know the answer.

I'm trying to have a look at the lot in google maps and seeing a giant nonsensical privacy blur from the Indian River Dr end. Is there a particularly bashful tree that lives there?

I was going to host a Fiver out of Martney Creek Park to help expand the awareness for this spot and it's access to Seymour but well Covid.
There are signs indicating Parkgate Park's gates get locked but we never saw anyone come to lock the gates in all the years we hosted Fivers there, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen later at dusk/dark. I've parked there numerous times (pre 2020) on a Wednesday night to mark Fiver courses and it was EMPTY while Old Buck was an overflowing gong show.

Pretty sure Parkgate is precisely where not to park? Isn't that exactly what we're talking about here? I get that they're against the bro-down but parking and not shopping is sort of the same thing.

Parkgate Park is not the same as Parkgate mall, but they are very close to each other. Check it out on Google Maps.

I usually park at Parkgate Park for Seymour, it's often blissfully quiet there.
It's only a few minutes walk or ride to the mall from there.
I had never heard of McCartney Creek Park, will check it out next time. I suppose you can access the Blair Range trails from there?
I've come to appreciate parking 5-10 minutes away from the trail head a lot more. It gives you an opportunity to do an easy spin to get warmed up (plus cool down after) and you don't have to deal with parking issues like there are at Old Buck or the Fromme lot.

LOL - don't mind me. My gravel bike doesn't shuttle.
Will people stop publicising Parkgate Park!!!! I won't be able to find my usual parking place there once all the rabble descend on it...🙄🙄🙄
