I've overheard a similar conversation in which I agreed far more with the LBS guy, it went like this.

Customer: "we're heading up to ride a loamer we've head about"
Shop guy: "Look it's just pissed it down for two days straight, could you please ride something else today"
Customer: "fuck that dude, we've gotta hit it before it gets roached"
Shop guy: "I know the builder and he'd really appreciate it"
Customer: "like it matters if two guys ride it"
Shop guy: "what if everyone thought like that?"
Customer: "eh?"

They can't shut down a forest. Keep riding.

+1

If there had been some sort of official announcement and (reasonable) explanation issued by the CMHC before they put up these signs then maybe it would be worth respecting… but to just throw up some no trespassing signs in front of a very heavily ridden trail network without any explanation is total BS.

That being said, the NSMBA is just trying to do their job and deal with this in a professional manner. If anything I would avoid riding those trails out of respect for the NSMBA, not out of respect for the CMHC.

the vast majority of trail users that ride lower Seymour on a regular basis might never even encounter a sign, riding/hiking the most popular loops.

Great read. A slight tinge of the homo-erotic. Not enough to sway me from my purely hetero stance. But I revelled in the tall man's, no doubt, chisseled jaw line. Two thumbs up. Way up.

Wrong. Always.

Unfortunately this is not uncommon and why we can't have nice things.
