Was it still open then? The Iron Workers bridge was opened in 1960.

Pre 1933 pic. The province bought it then after it had been hit several times by ships and was out of service for 4 years. And replaced it with a lift deck.

thats cool. my dad grew up in deep cove - by the sounds of it things looked a bit different in the 1950's (no kidding hey?). Even growing up in the 80's and 90's I remember Vancouver as a totally different place than it is now.

Having done that exact ride many, many, times, it's trippy to see how it looked back then and getting quick glimpses of familiar landmarks and the few buildings that have lasted since then.

There is other ones on youtube. There is one from the late 50's of a guy driving out of Deep Cove before the Raven was built. I grew up right near there, so crazy to watch

That race is awesome. I hope they all got a PR on the "Badger Badger Badger" segment!

Volvo p1800 at the start line and a 144 at the finish. Was some of that race in cates park??

My best guess is they went up Gallant, along Deep Cove Road [HTML_REMOVED] Dollarton Hwy to the start of the 90 degree corner on Dollarton, then took a trail into the north end of Cates Park, followed a course around the park, with the finish up the boat ramp.
