Not again, more vandalism on Mt. Fromme

The trailhead sign for Lower Crippler was removed. It would have taken quite the effort since it was chained on with Lug nuts and was high up on a tree. If anyone recalls the last time it they saw it that would be useful. If it could be recovered that would be great!

I've noticed a few trail signs removed.

Time for more cameras?

I'm guessing more B than A. I've never seen one for sale so it might just be bull but I heard people pay money for them. So theft to fuel a collector's market might actually be a problem. I hope that's not true or we might have to find a better way to attached them.

Noticed one missing from Vedder yesterday. Might be a new collector about. First time in a long time I've seen one go missing in the Valley.

Ha!
in squamish after clearing blowdown I sometimes carve a wood carving out of a log. Pretty basic stuff like a bear, wizard or rabbit and leave them at the trail head. Supposed to act as a trail marker, and a place to put race course marking.

Four of them have wandered off.

The funny part is the last one to wander off now lives on a person's doorstep in Brakenstan (brakendale).
Pretty cheeky! Even has the trail name carved into the base of the carving. I always thought they wandered off to a gun range.

Anyways - there are weirdos in every town.

Why don't you take something of theirs like.. I don't know know… Their mailbox or license plates and put them up at the trail head in place of the sign they took?

Next time around make the signs look janky and home made, then no one will want to steal them! ;)

On the contrary, that may be exactly the type of flavour the singage klepto is attracted to.

I imagine it is the anti MTB brigade taking it more than a collector.
Was it last year the Brodie Espresso frame was taken and there was fire damage on the tree?

Not sure about the frame , but I may have heard the fire damage was some wacko biker that was upset with Digger about the trails being "dumbed down"

At least one thing is consistent , people are fucked and make bad decisions to try to get their point across .
