Isn't this what the bike racks at the front of busses is for, to help people up the hill if they dont want to climb? sounds like a waste of resources and money.

I'm trying to figure out the logistics of this thing. Cars parked next to the curb all the way up, and traffic lights [HTML_REMOVED] cross streets to negotiate. Will it stop when you have to bail off it when a car cuts across in front of you?

Is there a chance the track will bend?

Think they'll install one up mountain hwy and the Fromme climb? :D

bus is good but only 2 bikes and only goes every 15-30. But ya cars being parked and also what about like someone said car goes in front of you. But you know what I think it is great vancouver is trying to always make biking easier for all of us in vancouver.

Sounds like a good objective. With population and traffic increasing all the time we need to be more forward thinking. The status quo isn't scalable.

what's wrong w/ just pushing your bike up the hill? this thing cant be a whole lot faster than walking speed. also if you don't ride your bike b/c there are hills involved - you need a new hobby. probably something involving a motor.

Agreed, this is aimed at getting non-cyclists travelling by bike.

However, non-cyclist suck at riding and when they get to the top they'll either a) get creamed by a car b) ride on sidewalks like the bottle bums or c) ride in the middle of a lane and impede the flow of traffic.

Hills aren't the problem - the problem is that there aren't many safe ways to get around on a bike

I saw this proposal a while ago…..this has to be the absolute dumbest idea ever that the CNV has come up with.
