"Judy Stone, the doughty lady (and fearless ex-roofer) who is head of the Animal Advocates Society, gave District of North Vancouver council an earful Monday when it debated restrictions on paid dog-walkers."

If Judy truly cares about animal welfare, she should ask herself the following:

IF YOU HAVE TO PAY SOMEBODY TO WALK [HTML_REMOVED] CARE FOR YOUR DOG, WHY OWN A DOG IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Its like paying someone to socialize on your behalf.

Oh dude……

I suspect that the people who pay to have their dogs walked do care about their dogs more than you could possibly Imagine.

I know this first hand.My dogs get walked midday, monday through friday, buy a professional dog walker.

As well, they get walked by us at 5 am and around 6 pm every day…You being from the cove may have seen them/us…a husky/wolf cross and a rotti with a tail.

Notice the 13 hour gap between their walks by us.That is why we have someone come in for them midday,at a cost of $125 a week.

They used to acutually come to work with us,but times and circumstance change…..what am I supposed to do,dump them off at the pound?Tie them up in the yard all day?(they are expert escape artists,BTW)

Hell no.

Its kinda like paying for child care……I wonder if you see those parents who must go to work all day and arrange for childcare as unfit parents?

I also should point out that they get walked by themselves….no pack of 8 dogs here…..I feel that there should be a limit as to how many one handler can walk at a time…3 sounds right.

think before you write….satatements like yours have about as much validity as Mr Lautens'

Nobody said they don't love their pets - owning a dog (your dog) means taking responsibility, whether its picking up after them or keeping them company. Same with kids, execept the stakes are a lot higher. I have kids and the wife and I made sacrifices (personal/career/financial) to avoid the daycare route. You can call it misguided, but in my own opinion the personal rewards have outweighed the sacrifices. D.

This is why many people hire dog walking services to be there when they cannot.

I envy your situation, but remember that what you have done is not an option for most people.

You have an opinion, and so do I…neither of us is particularly right or wrong, but you cant paint an issue with one broad stroke of the brush.

One thing that is most evident is that the Dog walking companies need to be registered and regulated….I think we can both agree on that.

oh more "shore" drama. We need to lobby a director for a daytime soap opera.

PS- personally, I like it raw

So do any of you ACTUALLY bring anything Glass with you in your bag? (that's weird on its own..)

OR do you actually pack a 3 shot of Condoms JUST IN CASE you hook up on the trail.

Or Bring beer?? Man, I have move to where you guys are…

How is the Transient population around there? That is kinda what it sounds like to me. Because in all honesty.. I don't see dog walkers/hikers bringing beer bottles and condoms with them while walking thier dog.. (eheh Maybe they do, poor, poor dogs)
Here in Edmonton, in the rivervalley, there are "camps" that you can come across.. (here are a few in Ewok) I mean, there I find garbage..

Is there the chance that Neither party is responsible for the enviromental damage?

On a side note… I suggest who ever is leaving thier trash at Trail head/end better bring thier crap down.
