ahahaha. this shandro buisness reminds me of the rant about Dave Watson jumping over someones bike in whistler way back when.
ahhh I love it when people rag on pros, its so amusing!:D
OK, Obviously, my point was not recieved in my previous postings. I have nothing against the organizers, or the event, Myself and a few others in Squamish just thought it would have been cool, if we had gotten a phone call, or the "heads up" before the whole race as organized. I can't beleive this thread brought out so many responses. I didn't even think anyone would bother to reply. Thanks to everyone who read it and responed, in my favor or not, just letting everyone know the feeling down the road.

Very late in the game, but…
Just read over the thread. I just have to say I found it very entertaining! Ha Ha!
Maybe I will go out tommorow and build a new trail in Squamish called "Girls Only" or how about "Hungman"?! "Corkscrewed"!Ahhaha! (BUT DOESN"T THAT TRAIL ALREADY EXIST?)
Thanks, such good reading. You guys need to spend some of that extra time you have digging and riding.
I am going to call my trail, "Copyright This", or maybe "Can't find an Original Name"
Idea: Everybody throw an MTB event and give the money to some worthy cause… Maybe have the name relate to the name of the charity you are raising $$ for. Call it whatever you want, try to make it one of a kind! Double dare yah… Ha.
Talk about a good way to be accepted on the N.Shore!
Sounds like the NS RIPPER was very well received and hopefully the money raised will be used well. Hopefully no one else needs to be dragged off the NS trails by good people doing search and rescue. We all know how important these people are! Props to them.

I like the trail names man! Corkscrewed is more like it anyways and Copyright this is pretty original. Poachers Only wouldn't be bad either EH!
Suppose we'll be seeing the 'Ride to the River' event goin on next year, or the Rampstage, Possibly the Bicycle Battle??
Events are all cool, if you're in the situation to do one for a charity sweet, either way a new name can't be that hard to come up with?
You're A Peein" - See you next summer BC!!
after reading through the entire thread i can only think one thing..
SOS - to think the ns ripper has any intentions other than giving back to all those that make the shore what it is…you must be taking crazy pills!
dear DW,
since you got like a million bucks now, can i borrow $2850 for a Revolt frame?thanks,
steve
one of the cool things about the MTB community is the FREE flow of ideas between individual groups with common goals . you don't see that in golf or polo , so let's enjoy what we have . . . ..
wow i'm amazed at the negativity in this post, i'd have to say i agree with the guy, and i also see the other side….so really its a name and he it would be cool for a local race to find a charity or person to donate some proceeds too. i think a little respect is in order for this guy goin out on a limb tryin to let everyone know that "the ripper" races and fundraisers for ppl, why not continue that trend.
here to ride but i'm to busy building

and as previously stated, his ripper wasnt the first ripper…and the ns ripper, wont be the last ripper.
you say it should go to a charity or person; well some of it should..it being the proceeds (wow that was a yoda-esque sentence)…surely you cant say that giving the money back to those that sustain that which is the north shore isnt giving it to the people (in a broader sense of the intention)…
the squamish ripper will continue its trend the way it always has, and the ns ripper will move about its path the way it is… i dont see the harm or foul in any of this..
i understand where the parent poster is coming from, but i dont see where any of this is worth getting upset over…

Its the Ripper… its so hawt these days
a rose by any other name would smell as sweet
Everyone go listen to "Frankie goes to Hollywood" "Relax"
And yes, es-oh-es did invent the piano necktie!
All I can say is that the Ripper series was awesome. A race series in my own backyard. I have been waiting for this forever. Cam and James did a great job, especially considering it was the first season. Anyone on any bike can do well in these races. What other types of racing can you say that? I just hope more people turn out next year.
Coming from DH racing - where you're always looking for the shortest, fastest line - to a race where the slowest line was the fastest, it was fun. A totally different way of thinking about your lines.
