^ Coiler really isn't a trail you expect to hear about injuries.

RIP riding brother

Sorry to hear this news. As a "middle age" mountain biker myself I find this one hits close to home. Does anybody have any more information?

RIP all the best to his family. In all fairness, this sort of thing can happen to you on the street any time. Live life to the fullest and take nothing for granted.

Maybe off the one and only drop gap? If you overshoot could be brutal but deadly? RIP!

Of all the trails I imagine getting messed up on, Coiler would be last on my list. Terrible news. I wonder if this will have broader repercussions on the riding community and trail access.

RIP this guy, and the hiker that was also found passed away. There are risks, and we all accept them, like it or not.

Rest in peace to the fallen rider and heart felt condolences to his family. I can't imagine how tough this must be for them.

I can't say I haven't thought about this since I heard the news earlier today. I hope it's not the case, but the relationship between riders and West Van seems tenuous at best.

Ride, don't slide.

Either that, or the top of the trail where it's really ripped up right now. (6" deep ruts in the dirt, super soft)

Terrible to hear ): my thoughts are with the family.

I haven't ridden Coiler in about a decade but apparently it was right near where it hits the Trans Canada Trail.

Coiler is one of the oldest most natural trails on cypress. Not much you can do if you have a bad crash. I hope neither the trail nor the sport is blamed for this tragedy,
