A mountain biker has reportedly been killed near West Vancouver[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s Cypress Bowl.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene just before 2 p.m. Monday when someone called to report an accident on Coiler trail about a kilometre from the fourth switchback of Cypress Bowl Road.

The middle-aged victim had apparently been riding the winding path when he was severely injured.

Police, fire and ambulance crews hiked into the area on foot. The man died at the scene.

Wow, a range of conflicting emotions and questions on a strange day for me anyway:
I haven't ridden Coiler, is this a big air trail where one can get in over ones head?
Sometimes on the Shore the price for a mistake is too high.
Did he die doing what he enjoyed?
Was he wearing a leyatt neck brace thing?
Was he riding alone?
Condolences to his riding group, and family of course.
Oh no! #%£!, I hope this isn't a buddy of ours down here whom I was just chatting with yesterday.
Too close to home. Gotta check.

Sounds like a freak accident.

He was not riding alone.

Just awful.
