Hi all,

I don't know whether or not you are all familiar with the website www.mtbville.com. It is a decent blog run by established shore local Ross Measures. I noticed that the picture Ross uses in the upper left-hand corner of the screen to identify himself shows Ross hitting a drop on the shore. I looked closer because I, like any shore rider, can appreciate a lofty piece of airtime. My enjoyment ended when I realized that the drop was built by being nailed into live trees. I'm no digger, but I know as well as any other self-respecting trail rider that you never nail into live trees. Dangerous Dan has hammered that point home countless times and it has been a key arguement between our collective mountain bike army and the facist dictators over in the offices of the District of North Vancouver. I put it to you Ross, what were you thinking?

People, Join me in my cry against unsustainable building practises!!!

I'm not 100% certain it's the same stunt but I think that's a one hit wonder that was built a long time ago.

"Anyways we ended up at a classic drop that I built like 5 years ago. Some how this drop has survived 5 winters, paintballers and the district chopping…"

How is that drop still there? It was built, but not quite finished, some time ago - 2002ish - by some cough teenagers who didn't know much better at the time. The art of trail building takes time and matures with the builder.

i have it under good authority that the crossmember was organically affixed using an ancient haida technique that entails the application of alternating layers of tree sap resins and cedar bark strips (from fallen logs, of course) - an advanced process that's analogous to carbon composite construction, and is in no way detrimental to the life force of the standing trees.
