Just got off the phone with RCMP.
35 year old rider from out of town.
at about 12:15 another rider found him down and in medical distress on Pipeline.
medical distress as a result of crash.
deceased is described as an experienced rider, next of kin has been notified.
the victim was transported off the hill just after 6pm by helicopter lift.

I was riding the lower trails tonight and saw two cruisers come off the hill and at least two choppers circling. I was hoping someone was lost. Gut wrenching and tragic news. I feel so sorry for the friends and relations, my condolences and may the fallen rider rest in peace.

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

Distressing. I ran into an American woman who had driven a ways up the highway looking for her husband who had been riding Pipeline. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of this fellow rider. Sobering moments for the rest of us.

Very sad news. RIP. Looks like it's in the Vancouver Sun, said to be a neck injury after falling off a "balance board": http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Idaho+mountain+biker+dies+Lynn+Headwaters+Regional+Park/8505478/story.html

Hope he passed away doing something he loved.
