Re. the ghost bike idea, I've got an old Brodie Sovereign frame. It's pretty battered (cracked chainstay plus other issues) but deserves a home suited to it's history rather than getting chucked in metal recycling. It's in my "I'll do something with it when I have the money" pile of stuff, but if anyone more artistic than me thinks they could use it as a tribute, they are welcome to it. Just a thought anyway.
treezz
wow you are a ass
One would expect that the family of the fallen would appreciate such a thought, particulary considering that nobody here even seemed to know the guy. Seems like a good idea.

Does anyone on here have any way of getting in contact with the family? Should we do this via the NSMBA as a collective commemoration to the family? Let them know we care. From the sounds of this thread, people do care.

From Lynnvalleylife.com Facebook page: Like you, we were saddened to hear about the tragic death of this visitor from Boise, Idaho, in the hills above our neighbourhood. If you would like to send your condolences to his wife and young children, you are invited to email them to [email protected]. We will put together a card on behalf of the community and Cpl. Richard De Jong has offered to ensure it is delivered to the family. Please share this invitation with other Lynn Valley residents, and please have your messages sent our way by Friday night (the 14th).
That's good thinking, and the right kind of message to get across.

Geeze. And in a true testament to tastelessness, Vandeman is right there on top of the comments section with a vicious, heartless rant.

I like the idea. To commemorate the fallen soldier.

man, putting a face and some history to this incident really makes the whole thing hit a lot harder. this will affect a lot of people.
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Agreed. I want to help with the tribute on Pipeline for sure.

I'm happy to get outside and enjoy nature while I can, but I fear for the future of humanity
