I have to agree, that while the intention was clearly good, the skills parks I've been to over here generally suck. Conversely in the UK I've driven up to 2 hours in order to ride for a day there. There's mini-DH runs, dual courses and the like to practice on or race your mates. The whole 'three lines of DJs and some planks of wood built on unsuitable land' gets boring pretty quickly. Hopefully this new one will have more imagination thrown into it….and not be built on a gravel pit or marshland…

Does no one understand that bike parks are meant to get kids riding, not for us? Interriver's is quite often busy when I drop by.

And I'm surprised the hate spewed in this thread hasn't caused it to get shutdown ala RMB truck slander. Come on guy's, you're better than that.

Yeah…this thread is full of comments that aren't really going to be helpful to our cause.

Wrong. Always.

Yes … but does Monica Craver need to get her own thread?

I guess honesty is not allowed anymore.

The whole powerline thing in Langley…well, so is the BMX track. Right or wrong, we still ride. We have a huge membership, dedicated volunteers, racing once a week, practice twice, clinics, Provincial events, National events, literally dozens of new kids every year riding and racing bikes…yet somehow we can't get access to the same kinds of funds these bike parks get. I don't understand it, and it is frustrating.

And it pisses me off that I drive by this park 2-3 times per week- on the way to and from the track, and I rarely see a user. I go out there with my kid, and I can understand why. Poorly built, bad dirt, and no maintenance. The same goes with Burnaby…it's a terrible park!

Most times I've dropped by Interriver it is empty, also.

It boggles my mind that our cities are willing to sink all kinds of cash into these parks when the end result is low ridership, and poor maintenance…yet when BMX tracks come calling, they have no funding to help an Olympic sport.

My appologies for being honest.

Thanks for the reminder.

For those that haven't read it in a while, here is NSMB's Terms of Use [HTML_REMOVED] Rules:

Rules for the NSMB.com Forums
Thank you for visiting the NSMB.com forums. We’re happy that you’ve decided to join one of the most diverse mountain bike communities on the Web and hope that you will enjoy your stay here.

General Rules
As with everything in life, there are certain rules in place that help to keep this place friendly and running smoothly. In general, if you are civilized and treat others with respect, you will be ok.

This means that you can post anything that you would like (within reason), as long as it doesn’t contain the following things:

1.Pornographic or obscene images and text.
2.Excessive or inappropriate language/profanity.
3.Racist images or text.
4.Homophobic images or text.
5.Serious threats of physical violence or mental duress.
6.Images or text that could be construed as sexual harassment.
7.Specific directions to trails.
8.Solicitation of goods or services outside the specific “For Sale” forums unless approved by a moderator.
9. The post in question contains references to Chuck Norris.

In addition, we ask that you post in the appropriate forum and in the appropriate thread.

Please remember that everyone has an opinion, especially on the Internet. Excessive ‘flaming’ of other members of the community without their consent or participation, will be considered a serious threat, and a violation of the TOS. If you have a legitimate beef about a competing website, a product or a shop, by all means share it. Trolls and flames will not be tolerated, posts will be deleted, and if you think you can run a better bike shop, then open one and prove it.

What we do if Rules are Broken
Should a post be reported, the moderating team will delete the offending post. The poster will be given a warning in PM along with a short explanation of why it was deleted and why it should not posted again.

If a moderator feels it necessary, then your account may be suspended for 30 days. If upon reinstatement of your account, the undesired behavior continues, then you will be removed from the site permanently and asked not to return.

Like the community, the moderating staff is made up of a diverse group of individuals and we are not perfect. Occasionally, mistakes may happen and if you feel that your banning was a result of a mistake, then you may wish to contact an NSMB.com staff member to clear things up. Please note that "I was only joking" is not a valid excuse.

I blame Norman for bringing CN into the discussion.

This thread ought to have ended quickly with a statement like: Mrs. Craver: You do not live or vote in the vicinity. Your opinion is not relevant to the people that live there.

One can understand the hateful responses though as Mrs Craver has and continues to have an agenda that does not mesh with our own preferences. It is far better though to stay on the high road and not stoop to her level.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

There's more to our proposal than a few DJ lines. That said, there's a small dj setup
in Metchosin that is busy every time I drive by.

Chuck Norris doesn’t need a call to action. Action needs a call to Chuck.

if you're trying to build a park this one looks like an awesome role model. Was just down south checking it out and wow did it look nice in person.

the biggest expense in building a park like that is finding and getting the right dirt.
