I am a vegetarian not because I love animals but because I HATE plants.
It could be worse…you could be on fire.
I was there for spring break. I saw stuff advertised for mountain biking tours. You'll see ads for it all over while you're there. I think most of its on Haleakala (sp?) which is an old volcano (go up there even if not to bike). I don't remember seeing much urban stuff…but I also wasnt looking, so you never know. So yeah, I dunno if its all a big tourist scam or if there actually is stuff there. I don't remember seeing any, but like I said, I wasnt looking.
I wouldn't call the Haleakala thing mountain biking. They offer tours where they bus you up there and you ride down the road en masse in big yellow jackets. They allow hiking through the crater but I don't think mountain bikes because they're very sensitive about the environment - State park thing.

Oh yeah, they do that down the road thing too, but thats not what I was talking about. There actually was stuff advertised as mountain biking. I think it might have been on private land down the side of the volcano.
i know a kid who went there and shuttled to the top of the huighest mountain, and then rode down the road. apparently like an hour straight downhill. pavement, but stil pretty cool!!
theres a guy on this board that lives there and posted a pic of his bullit. i assume that if youre gonna but a # grand bike, there should be some good riding around. (i think this guys name was kokomoko or like mokomomo something like that…)
hey bro i live in maui. I will show you the scene
PM me Im the guy with the white bullit in those pictures, ryan the kid, bali calls me.
Maui is very small and if there's "freeriding" as you call it - good luck finding it. There may be some nice XC stuff or a one hit stunt build somewhere, but I didn't see anything. I explored most of the island this January without any incling of a riding culture or a network of trails.
I was on the big island and Oahu last year and yes, they both have some decent trails.
You have to remember that coming from BC, we probably have the best riding culture/terrain on the planet. So everything else falls short in comparison.
Good luck nonetheless.
(bring a road bike)
lesbiens, and I don't mean the good kind.
