… thinking of heading south for the weekend and hoping the neighbourhood is still here when we get back.

Until then having a beer and hoping for the best.

Arsonists should be burned to death in front of a live studio audience.

Wrong. Always.

I can't imagine how frustrating it is. Takes a special kind of idiot to do that.

Whoever is doing it better hope they don't get caught by a vigilant resident. I'm not sure how nice I would be if I caught someone lighting fires in my neighbourhood, level 4 drought conditions or otherwise…

Ride, don't slide.

3 more fires set last night.
This is beyond criminally stupid.

Not to mention being a good citizen but I'd guess there could be a buck or 2 made through Crimestoppers to catch an arsonist potentially paying back the camera.

Trail cameras certainly would be put to better use in Hastings creek area. Help out the a Fuzz.

Fortunately, over fifteen firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the various sized fires. Many of the fires were directly behind local homes that back onto the tinder dry forest. If the fires had not been reported as quickly as they were, they potentially would have grown in size very quickly.

“Arson is a criminal offence, and the North Vancouver RCMP is taking this investigation very seriously,” said Operations Officer, Insp. Jennifer Hyland. “With the extremely hot dry conditions we are experiencing right now, public safety is paramount for everyone!”

If you see a wildfire, immediately report it at 1-800-663-5555 or call *5555 on your cell phone. Alternately, you can report a wildfire to 9-1-1.
