Seeing that over in my neck of the woods (Burke) its like a full smoke out, I've made a couple of conscious decisions to not ride...seeing if anyone else is doing the same or if I should just grow a pair

Still riding, but not pushing it quite as hard on the climbs.

It gives me a headache. Gonna lay low for a bit. Start rallying some shuttles.

I did a 900 m Fromme ride yesterday night and felt terrible. I had to stop for breaks on the way up. Tonight, I shuttled and that felt better.

Pretty thick this morning on way to work, zero wind . Wind kicks up a bit in the aft and clears out somewhat.

At least it will keep the number of "hiker" accidents down for a bit. Many waterfall accidents, drownings, dumb ass stuff going on this summer. Been endless

Air quality alert from Environment Canada

https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?bc42#1645383311841101826201808130502wo2080cwvr

Metro Vancouver is continuing an Air Quality Advisory for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley because of high concentrations of fine particulate matter due to smoke from wildfires burning in British Columbia. Elevated levels of fine particulate matter are expected to persist until there is a change in weather and/or fire conditions.

Smoke concentrations can vary widely across the region as winds and temperatures change, and as wildfire behaviour changes.

Fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5, refers to airborne solid or liquid droplets with a diameter of 2.5 micrometres (µm) or less. PM2.5 can easily penetrate indoors because of its small size.

Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease. If you are experiencing symptoms such as chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing, follow the advice of your healthcare provider. As we are in the summer season with warm temperatures, it is also important to stay cool and hydrated. Indoor spaces with air conditioning may offer relief from both heat and air pollution.

Living in my Comox home this month. Paddleboarding after work on the ocean this week when it was smokey - it was glorious. Now the smoke is all but gone - been ripping in the woods. - don't be jealous....

But to answer the question. Usually we just go ride. It is supposed to be more damage than good for the lungs but I figure no one ever worries about ruining their lungs after smoking for a week as a teenager. I skipped that whole trying smoking phase so I figure I earned myself a few days riding in the camp fire.

Went out last night on Fromme.

Could kinda taste it but kept the heavy breathing down to a minimum. I guess this is the new normal, don't book your summer vacation in August.

Was down in WA state, they have a similar foggy/hazzy issue from Blaine down to Seattle

I assume that this is our new norm.... :(

Yesterday on lower Fromme was OK, just kept the heavy breathing to a minimum.

Wouldn't be out today, have never seen smoke like this in the LM.

It is 10+ here in Whistler but much better visibility than Saturday afternoon and all yesterday. I’ll be doing an easy ride by the river this morning. The Monday Night ride may have to be cancelled too.
