I'm afraid to try this thing. Is there anything I should keep in mind before I give it a go? Is it any trickier than the one on Ladies before the uphill?
Here's a pic of said Crippler coaster found on google:

Honestly, yes, after hitting it many times the g-out still catches me off guard at times.
Hey, that's my photo! My friend Matt in skinny jeans eyeing it up.
Nice photo! I did a google image search and it was the one that came up that showed the coaster best.
If your buddy can do it in skinny jeans, I should be good to go, right? :D
It's not too bad, the g out keeps it interesting though.
The consequences aren't bad as you'll fail at the low spot and you can just jump off the back of your bike.
The first dip is the toughest.
creep over the first roller, ease off of brakes part way down roller. look up to the crest of the next roller. following ones will be a cinch. peace.

He didn't even own a mountain bike at that point, just borrowed my hardtail and went for it all day.
This photo might even be better, but it doesn't echo your own sense of contemplation like the one above…
like everyone else has already said, the g-out is savage. Make sure your fork is stiff and your elbows are out and send'er!
Barber hitting it like a boss. I once went off the second roller after the g- out into the tree in the left of the frame. Yea, it's fun, but it is a bit tricky the first time.
And within the skinny jeans are years of BMX skillz, kinda like Morgman. "Oh I just started riding MTB, is this how you drop an 8' skinny with table top steez". Skills, damn skills
hopefully that fromme fire plan doesn't affect any of this stuff. They're probably just looking for just about any reason to get rid of stuff like this.

As you know, this is on the upper part of the trail above St. Mary's. I don't think the fire break plan goes that high, but you never know, and I concur with your second statement.
My buddy stalled out at the top, lost his balance, fell to the right [HTML_REMOVED] blew out his knee. Make sure you have enough momentum when you get to the top.
Thread killer
here is a short 9sec video of the first time I tried the coaster. My front wheel swivelled more than I expected.
