Logging on Fromme

I guess all that logging on mountain hwy between the gate and 3rd switchback is just being done to prevent blowdown etc over the winter? Oh, and what's with the big pile of asphalt millings blocking the entrance to natural high?

There's a couple places that the rock work just isn't holding up so were just going to start laying down the tarmac.

Truth be known its a lazy or uniformed dump truck driver that doesn't know there is a trail head there. We are in the process of trying to get it removed.

It's all just working up to an expansion of the frog ponds.

New paved paths around the new frog ponds so all the tour buses can make it a new stop after they walk across the Capilano suspension bridge.

The rare frogs Monica has been talking about are becoming international stars. So clear cut 100 acres of forest for the bus parking and pave 50kms of trails. Make some new tailings ponds.

It's all about the frogs.

I was pretty disappointed to see the big old trees being cut down for not much appearant reason along the road. I bet there's 20 big trees that came down last week.

I hope Monica picks this one up, as it's true unnecessary damage to the forest.

They could be hazard trees.

Grouse is widening the road to get equipment up for a hydro ( or was it wind, can't remember) station up there.

They are responsible for maintaining the road.

I was surprised by the number of trees that came down and am guessing that yes, they were hazard trees.

Its mostly done. Have you seen the area around Ladies! I think they did a good job at the 3rd SB, at least now you can get into Kirkford!

2 new ski lifts - I saw a huge truck with shiv assemblies going up last week. They looked stuck - still some fresh marks on the trees just past the watertowers

I was kinda bummed to see the road widened but its Grouse's road that we're using so we can't really complain

the stuff at the NH entrance will probably be moved soon and in the meantime you can still roll into it easily

yeah, they unloaded a monster dumptruck last week off a flatbed. Pretty cool machine. Could have helped out Rob and Ian down the trail…

First it was dump trucks, last week there were cement trucks heading up and down the road and this week, the challenge was dodging a fully loaded logging truck on it's way down the hill. The charms of riding the shore. :o
