The A-frame - do you drop it or roll it?
I typically come into it with a decent amount of speed - but I tend to brake and roll it. However, the other day i over-cooked it a bit and pretty well cleared it (landed on the dirt). Which was cool, but caught me offguard.
Roll, but sometimes I come into it fast enough that my front wheel floats for a bit of air time. I'm too old and creaky to be launching anything that large any mo.
I dropped it at first, but then a huge bomb hole developed so i started rolling it just so I was better set up for the step up after it.
Air to dirt is a pretty hard landing, I try and keep my wheels as low as possible, small air to ramp at the most.
Although, earlier this year I came in hot, tried to squash it and landed front wheel first on the edge of the dirt, scared the crap out of myself, but it worked out. Lesson is, if you are going in too hot, you might as well send it, it's probably safer.
I drop it.

Big hole developing at the bottom of the A-frame as of today.
It's a well built trail obviously, but still I think it doesn't get the break it deserves when the weather is as wet as it has been lately.
I completely agree.
Heads up ... on Saturday 11th it was blocked off with rocks and pails of sand. Clearly closed for maintenance, so the ride-around is the only option.
Trailforks reports:
- Closed over the weekend
- Now open with armored ride-around and 12" of fresh dirt off the "huck"
It was a huck originally, sitting on its own in the forest with no trail leading to or from it. No idea who built it originally.
