chilcotins - before it rains

before it is snows.

For XC, I would do a day at the Shore, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton and Revy. If your totally not bagged, do a Tyax rip (Taylor Basin -[HTML_REMOVED] Camel Pass -[HTML_REMOVED] High Trail -[HTML_REMOVED] Lick Descent)

Revy would be a solid choice for 3 or 4 days of it. Martha-Sale (sure, it's an all mountain dh shuttle, but you gotta' do it - no big bike required) - you CAN ride up the road of hell to make it epic. New Frisby Ridge alpine trail. Keystone Standard. On your way out, it might surprise you to learn there are a couple epic all mountain xc rides (like 6 hour loops) in Kamloops. Breaks up the drive in and out. Talk to Dylan at mostly mental shuttles, as he's far more than a dh guy.

Rossland! Just got back last night, unbelievable epic xc, amazing buff trails that go on forever, stuff you can climb, with long descents, just endless. 1st day - 7 Summits, got a shuttle for $20.00 (Adrendaline Adventures) to get vehicles to the bottom of Dewdney and bikes to the start at Nancy Greene Summit, 37 km/5 hours of climbing, descending, climbing, descending, descending, descending….Day 2, Larch Ridge trail, B.S., B.H. and Monticola, etc… can do a few laps up there, you've never seen such buff trails. Day 3 Drakes, Tamarack, Doukabour Draw, Whiskey, OO7 (a killer climb) Crown Point, back on the railgrade…(order isn't quite right, but took just over 3 hours). Now we didn't have enough days to do Nelson, but I'd add that on next time, go to Gerick's Cycle for info and maps… more downhill, but tons of awesome looking xc too.
On the drive home, we stopped at Christina Lake at Texas Creek Campground to do Deer Point trail , out and back trail, rolling all one direction above the lake, down to beach at end, smooth, some slightly exposed sidehilling overlooking lake, gorgeous, more mellow, but still totally fun trail that seems to go on and on about 1 1/2 hours one way. AND warm lake for post-ride swim. Only downside in Rossland is the fine dust when you're following riders…and even though it was hot, we were in the shade a lot, only started about 8:30 or 9, and it's cooler at altitude.

^^^^

I've done that loop before and had no idea there was that much elevation change. I did 8000 in the Chilcos yesterday and it felt like a LOT more than a rip from the Cove up Fromme and back.

Probably too late but Oakridge, Oregon has some amazing and seemingly endless alpine singletrack. You could also squeeze in Hood River and maybe Ashland. Plus, no sales tax, cheap gas, and CHEAP BEER.
