The valley [HTML_REMOVED] lakes are really pretty, when down on the lake, it looks like the Okanagan, surrounded by rolling hills.

I will be leaving the shore area to work and live in Regina Sk from Aug 28-Dec 31.

Should I bother bringing a bike? If so, what bike should I bring?

The research I've done so far is telling me no indoor BMX tracks, or indoor mtb areas.
I'm seeing a bit of bicycle friendly roads through the middle of town, which currently has me leaning towards bringing my cyclocross bike, but with the possibility of early snow, I really don't know if I should bother with a bike at all.

Four months eh? Yeah, just watch. You'll meet a hot little prairie girl and make little Cheez1ts and then it's goodbye to BC. You will be missed.

Someone who grew up there said something along the lines of this to my girlfriend a little while back. She's not overly concerned about me meeting a "hot little prairie girl".

Also, Craig, thank you for the info. I went straight to Google maps and I'm now excited that there's actually a few lakes and potential sloped areas that I can feasibly go explore.

Father from town, check out: Grasslands National Park, Cypress Hill Provincial Park (SK side) [HTML_REMOVED] Frenchman River valley near Eastend.

Saskatchewan does have some nice areas, but you have to get off the #1 to see them.

BTW, the people are fantastic, they are a lot different than Albertans. I think it is because the culture in Saskatchewan is farming, the culture in Alberta is ranching.

A little north east is the Fort Qu'appelle Valley, which is really nice area actually. When I was little we were on some trails there. Surely they still exist. If no riding, at least for some nice rolling terrain and lakes to chill out at.

Edit: actually if you haven't spent time on the prairies and are looking to road trip it around the prairies, it may sound nuts, but head to Riding Mountain National park in Manitoba. It's a 3.5 hour drive to Clear Lake though, but the trail systems are nice. I grew up there and the North Escarpment trails are the only trails between Calgary and who-knows-where-Ontario that actually point downhill somewhat. It's an 800m escarpment so you get some nice prairie views, and some old school klunker style DH.

Otherwise do weekends in Cowtown…

I have heard there is some stuff in Kenora as well…lots of rock. And if you look on a map that area may as well be in Manitoba.
