UPDATE, O.W.L. volunteers captured the eagle.  He has a very mangled wing, unfortunately it does not look good for rehab, but at least he won't gradually starve

I saw a bald eagle with an injured wing on Baden Powell, ~80 m east of the Digger trail head, last night.

I contacted Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL) 604-946-3171 or 604-230-3469

They directed volunteers up last night and will again today

The eagle was last seen walking downhill.

If you see it, give OWL a call

They warned me that you should be very careful of the talons (so trying to rescue on your own with only bike gloves isn't smart)

Feel free to repost to other trail group message boards

thanks

I helped capture and extricated the aforementioned stricken eagle from the mountain.

Sad update from OWL Rescue:

"They said that the bones in its wing were dead beyond repair, on top of existing infections, severe starvation and dehydration. They figured it may have been on the ground and wounded for days before we found it so while it was knocked out for surgery they made the call for its comfort."

Nature is real AF.

Sorry to hear that. They are majestic birds. Top of the food chain. Good to know there are people out there who care.
