Incident on Mount Seymour Road

Anyone know what happened tonight(Thursday)? Was shuttling and went up the road to retrieve the vehicle and there was a truck on the side of the road at the baden powel parking lot and noticed someone on the other side of the road picking stuff up off the road.  Figured something flew out of his truck and didnt think anything of it.  Came back down to a bunch of vehicles there and saw a guy lying on the side of the road getting his neck/head stabalized and a wrecked motorcycle in the ditch.  Didnt see any other vehicles with damage though.  Came back up and there was a search and rescue truck with some lady at her car down the road a bit more.  Was a bizzare night.  Anyone hear what happened? Hope the guy was ok.  The fire department showed up to help out eventually and police.

Anyone know of any accidents on Seymour last night? Heard a heli whilst riding, and when retrieving a shuttle we saw 3 fire trucks on the road.

I heard the helicopter too, found this online last night:     www . news1130.com/2018/08/28/mountain-biker-injured/

Hopefully he can recover from this, it’s always scary hearing about something like this happening so close to home.

Apparently he was a European tourist on an unsanctioned trail.  Yikes.

Sad to read about that last night, hope he does recover and props to NSR, fire dept etc. for the long line at dusk. One of the fire guys said it was an unsanctioned trail "just north of the Mushroom lot)... just north looks like CBC area but I would assume this was over on the other side of the mountain?

Sobering reminder of the risks when you hear stories like this. I had a big crash during a solo ride on Salvation earlier this year and could have been paralyzed. Luckily I was able to walk away with only a fractured vertebrae, separated shoulder and sprained thumb. Reading that article reminded me how easily I could have been that person.

Healing vibes, man. This could happen to any one of us at anytime. Ride safe, rubber side down.

Hi Everyone,

That rider turned out to be a good friends brother and as many have read in the news he's now paralyzed from the chest down. Please click here: https://www.gofundme.com/lets-help-yuri to read the whole story and consider donating if possible. He's going to need all the help he can get to adjust to his new reality.

Sad to her about his injury. Hoping for the best for the rider.

Many thanks to the first responders who got him out of the woods.

Really sad story.   Warm wishes for a speedy recovery.  Luckily he had comrades to support him.

I ride alone quite often.   Sometimes at night.   A sobering reminder that shit happens.   I carry an emergency beacon with me as sometimes im out of cell coverage.   Its a little bit of insurance but obviously its not 100% fail safe.

Maybe a good lesson too is to make sure someone always knows where you are going and your ETA for return.
