I'll believe it when I see it...Squamish Gondola
No money to expand rail transit but a gondola to get lazy tourists a great view gets express service. That's just great.
There's nothing better than an Orangina after cheating death with Digger.
lots of private money for money making ventures.
little public money for money loosing ventures.
you're surprised?
Is it just me, or is this a really bad photoshop? (from the Pique article link above)

So how long before this becomes the Grouse Grind of the North [HTML_REMOVED] they start charging for down-only rides?

Grouse Grind is a great workout, I use other trails but they get me to the top and I don't wreck my knees by going down, so if you built a gondola you wouldn't charge to down load on it? Good business plan!?
Like the Grouse tram you don't have to download but if you want you can…I suggest you take a trip up to grouse on any weekend and see how many people don't use it…I know Stuart personally and what they have created is pure fun and genius and they give a ton of money back to the community too through many different charities and Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports which got donated land from Grouse that will house a bigger VASS program to get more people with disabilities out on the slopes….all positive.
The Squamish Gondola will be awesome! For tourists, for recreation and some things that will be created around it that no one has a clue of yet…

The trail to the top of the Chief is already a grind alternative. The area this gondola would open up would provide an alternative to that.
Remember it is your CHOICE to pay for download or not.

I have nothing against the Grind, capitalism, profit, or good business opportunities. You're reading into this.
I never said they shouldn't charge, or disagreed with downloading (I do it as well)…I only wondered if they have thought about it.
Grouse certainly didn't. It took them awhile before they figured out the cash cow that Mr McPherson had created for them.
Personally I wouldn't run down the Grind because it's a bit of a bowling alley. Much better downhill options abound [HTML_REMOVED] my knees are still fine. But I appreciate those times when I can lounge at the pub for a beer or two, [HTML_REMOVED] casually hop on the tram for a leisurley descent.
