haha, I sit down all the time. Mainly cause im lazy or riding on the road and kinda cause i have XC esq bike. But when i shred the saddle goes down and im standing all the way. So when im pushing i stand rest of the time i sit. I prefer standing though it gives better control and seems more free.

I prefer to stand on skinnies, ladders etc, but on easy parts of the trail I'll stand, or on little climbs on the trail

That's the problem with cities, they're refuges for the weak, the fish that didn't evolve.

I don't want to google this - sounds like a thing that NSMB will be better at.

I ride solely sitting down, especially for freeride/urban assaults.

I would say that one should never sit going down hill. Standing allow you to shift your center of mass around, allowing you to move the bike around much easier. If look at trials riders, who arguably have the best balance/contol over a bike, they always stand. In fact most trials bikes don't even have seats. Up hill (as in going up the road before coming down the trail.) I would say it would depend on the geo of your bike. Being on the saddle you're using the majority of your energy to turn the crank, vs supporting your weight.

I stand up most of the time when I'm doing a trail, I sit down on the downhill on a x-country race, and I do half and half when pedalling around the streets.
