Anyone get out on Fromme yesterday or today? What's the status?

I played around with Google Earth:

  • I'm at 330m elevation on Burnaby mountain. There are patches of snow on the trails, but mostly mud. It is currently snowing though.
  • The Fromme parking lot is about the same elevation (341 on Google Earth), so you should have snow starting from there and only getting worse as you go up.
  • Old Buck is at 120m elevation and mushroom lot is 556m so your best bet is probably to go over to Seymour.

This is always the answer when the snow arrives 😉

fromme was sweet yesterday; was snowing from the gate, but rideable all the way up to 7th with 2-3" on the ground. the perfect combo of fresh on frozen ground - floofy but still decently grippy. i assume there's been a bunch more accumulation overnight, tho.

I went out for a quick one at lunch, a few lower Fromme laps, never higher than Bobsled. There is about 5 cm of slush on the ground in open areas, but it's clear under tree canopy at that elevation. Bridges are the slushiest and are absolutely treacherous.

Last night was fun but sketchy - slushy snow build up on woodwork like you say, D_C , made for some tough sections. Snow is grippy and a little spinny in places but anywhere that sun has peeked into the exposed sections will slush it up, hopefully we won't get too bad a freeze/thaw

Snow begins about Baden Powell on the No 1/4 climb, but still rideable.

I didn't go higher today

Fromme parking lot is closed due to Weather
1-2 inches constantly on Kirkford apart from some corners that were sheltered, snow is crisp and grippy. Rock roll->wood ramp is kinda sketchy due to the cobbled nature of the rocks throwing the back end out but still glorious to explore the subtle interaction of braking, traction and bodyweight

I’d say the snow here in Whistler is about a metre deep in places, less in the woods. Ain’t no riding to be had. Don’t know about Squamish.

I did some lower laps on the west side of Fromme yesterday. The snow starts on the climbing trail where you hit the Baden Powell. Trails below the Baden Powell (Dreamweaver and lower) are clear.

Rode Fromme last night. Easily ride-able up Mtn Highway. Snow starts around the first switchback, but there are open sections and riding is easy until you get to the the 3rd switchback....easy again once your above that (and the road is under the tree canopy).  A bit of walking as we approached the 5th switchback. We headed in to Crinkum...it was a bit of a drift-fest all the way down to Kirkford. Kirkford was fine/bare once you're on the tight switchbacks....Cedar trail was surprisingly dry.

We went back up and did Bobsled/Natural High/Immonator.... no real snow on any of those.

Pipeline was good to go yesterday (thanks Silk). A bit of snow at the start, but fully rideable. Parking lot is still closed.
