Hi everyone
I wondered, if anybody knows, when was built the first ever MTB trail on the North Shore, and when was built the very first wooden structure for mountain bikes.
Please let me know if someone has already heard of it.
Thank you
Yannick

I think Bambie invented the trails on the north shore. But Cam describes it better here.

Looks like the site still isn't safe? (No idea what malware is though….)

I think that you will never have a final clear answer about this. I just read the history article. I never met Ross Kirkwood, but we rode cut yer bars and the brown fish jump trail in 1981. So I think he is right - he wasn't the first. I don't think we will ever know.

What I find cool is that many of the best riders and trailbuilders of the early days of the shore moved north to whistler and beyond.

Dale Douglas - built Dale's trail among others, and now runs Tyax air in the Chilcotins

Jeff(Brake)Breckner - seriously involved in the Deep Cove Bike shop early on, was maybe even a partner, then moved to Pembi and opened High Line bike shop which became the Pemberton Bike co. much later on.

Paul(Rolo)Rawlinson - started dollar races in the Blair rifle range in the early '80's (dollars were not called loonies then) - then moved to Whistler and was one of the founders of Worca.

All of these guys are in their 40's and beyond now.

I remember the secret trail society in the late 80's. They built a lot of woodwork on Fromme(and some trails on Grouse that are still secret today) Todd Fiander was involved. Todd was also doing his own thing quite a bit earlier than that.

severed dick has been around since the 80's , and the BFJCC had a trail (as above), and Old Buck was a trail back in the day. Breakaway wasn't a partner, but an on/off worker there. Guys like Turtle, Chaz, Jojo Buscombe, Smoke, and Rabbit hold the keys to the history books.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that was the same Dale.
