FYI, summer operations on Grouse Mountain currently are bigger and make more money then winter operations. While opening up to mountain biking is possible, the logistics that would have to be overcome are:
1. getting riders up and down the mountain to Grouse Property. They would use the Blue Gondola, which is smaller and used for daily ops.
2. If they were to use the Fromme area, they would want riders to get back to Grouse Property to buy stuff. Gondola/chair at the 6th SB?
Considering the cost of putting in infrastructure to accommodate a user group that would contribute negligibly to their bottom line, but increase their maintenance, 1st aid, transportation and potential conflict with current users, is it worth it? That would be the question.

Global TV recently did a story and interview with the 2 (unsanctioned) builders of the Grouse Grind starting in the 1970s. Old-school hikers got upset when the District widened the Grind in the 1990s and fixed/added stairs for sustainability reasons.

Just shows you some things never change, whether its hiking, MTB or whatever.
I think they are now up for some award … they did bring, directly or indirectly, hundreds of millions of $$$ onto the North Shore over the last 35 years and millions of people out to the outdoors.
I'm surprised Monica hasn't torn them another one and called them criminals at Council for building the Grind in "her" forest.

That lot is probably a steal! If I recall correctly, the price has stayed the same over the years while the rest of the North Shore has gone up how much?
