Which Fromme trails to you like when you're on a hardtail (if you have one)? Which ones do you dislike on a hardtail?

Most of Fromme is good on a hardtail because it's low speed tech. it's when it gets fast that I find the HT suffers. Seventh isn't super great, and lower ladies is a really big challenge. Ladies only and Bobsled on an HT is amazingly good fun though.

I agree on the faster stuff. However I really like 7th on a hardtail…

King Of The Shore and Executioner are also good. I've not been down it for a while, but I remember liking Skull too, other than wrapping myself around a tree at the bottom on time, and a mate having to untangle the mess….

I personally dislike the Griffen / Kirkford / Leppard / whatever the loop is called above Pipeline. It's probably good on a (gasp) 29er though.

This. I find that steeps and tech trails are sometimes actually easier. On smooth, fast, flowy single track I still like my hardtail best. The only time I wish I had a dually is when it's really fast, rough and rocky.

Teh 26" hardtail is dead!! Get a 29er or you will not have any fun.

Having said that I love Fromme on my 26" Cove Hand Job with 5" travel. I would always start me rides a 7th and then go were ever after that. A good run is 7th to Expresso to Crippler.

is going big on a bike the only way to get you stoked on the sport? what happened to riding with your bros, travelling, and riding unique places, to get people stoked on riding?

fines are useless. there needs to be more punches to the throat.

I like Ladies -[HTML_REMOVED] Skull on the HT. Lower Skull especially is a blast and you definitely feel like you have accomplished something.

I ride fromme all the time with my kona stuff with 3" djs on it. It keeps you honest and improves your big bike skills. Most everything is rideable if you're not afraid of a little commitment.

rear suspension isn't as critical as tire choice…

that and i think the type of hardtail you ride makes a difference as well.
an xc hardtail is going to ride a lot different that a fr oriented hardtail.

i'd say for most trails on fromme i'd prefer my fr hardtail (norco shore) over my xc hardtail (kona explosif), but i don't mind executioner, per gynt and the trails below the second swithcback on the explosif.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

You guys prob still use a video cassette recorder too!

well according to some people we're supposed to ride smaller bikes to help bring the challenge back to riding.
