This is better than watching NSMB. Sounds like the Crown wants to make a strong precedent with her.

Pretty sure being a defence lawyer would be a terrible job. Well everything except the money.

I particularly like this one..

Defence says Tineke Kraal should not be forced to build mountain bike trails: "these are the same people that threatened to kill her"

Her husband is going through third bout of cancer. She drives him every day, lawyer says sabotage was completely out of character #cbc

Except not. As the letter Cam found showed, both her and her husband had a long history of sabotaging bike trails.

Tineke Kraal stands to apologize to judge: "I never wanted to hurt anybody. I'm just really sorry." #cbc

I guess the fact that she has finally apologised is good, but she DID mean to hurt people, as proven by the fact that she and her husband would cut stringers 75% through so that the structure appeared in tact. If they wanted to make the trails unusable without causing injury, they could have just cut it all the way through and torn the bridge out, but they deliberately set it up such that structures would collapse under a rider's weight.

Defense lawyers are all well and good, but all too often, once a guilty plea is submitted, they need STFU.

Exactly. If it was not her intention to hurt mountain bikers, how could else could she explain her actions?

That seems just and reasonable to be honest.

seems about right . . . the conviction alone is a burden she'll carry for the rest of her life .

The judge commented on her lack of insight into the harm she caused. This could be why she was given 150 hours of community service AND barred from mtb primary and mixed use trails.

I was trying to listen to the Global News feed at lunch today (two year old had other ideas).

Did her lawyer actually say that .."the association" sent her death threats etc.? To say MTBers did is one thing. To say a specific entity did is a completely other thing entirely. Sounded defamatory to me. The association may want to ask for a bit of clarification from my learned friend.
