Getting somewhat on topic. I just drove down Seymour parkway and the grass in the centre of the road was smouldering with a cigarette butt in the middle. It's that dry right now.

fire rating in whistler got bumped to X-treme today

Indeed it did. http://bcwildfire.ca/Weather/Maps/danger_rating.htm
Only moderate in the lower mainland. I heard it was raining pretty hard in Whistler yesterday though.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

rained a bit, but things are still really dry, toonie on the westside last night was a bit damp, but more or less dry, with one section of trail literally a dustbowl with no apparent effect from the (minimal) rain…..

This looks good………I really hope the weather allows for riding in two weeks….:) And a bit of rain would be nice as well….wanna show me missus what it is like to experience rain in a coastal rain forest. :D

It was awesome - just the right amount of moisture so what you build actually sticks together

Sucks to say, but maybe it’s getting time to close/stay out of the woods for a while. Fire risk is obviously HIGH!

Don’t be that moron.

Agree, don’t be that guy smoking a cigarette or a joint in the parks and woods. No BBQs either!

Although danger rating is currently moderate according to DNV.

https://www.dnv.org/your-home-property/forest-fire-prevention-and-current-fire-danger-rating

But fire risk is HIGH according those who update websites regularly.  Hope, where the closest fire is burning seems to be at Extreme level

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/wildfire-situation/fire-danger

High: Forest fuels are very dry and the fire risk is serious. New fires may start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts. Extreme caution must be used in any forest activities.

Extreme: Extremely dry forest fuels and the fire risk is very serious. New fires will start easily, spread rapidly, and challenge fire suppression efforts. General forest activities may be restricted, including open burning, industrial activities and campfires

Trailforks has current fires and smoke layer, surely taken from BC fire service site. Fires are to the east, but not that far away.

192 currently active fires:
