There are already record fires in the interior. It's going to be brutally dry. How long till we see closures on the shore mountains?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!Good one. I assume that was tongue in cheek. If not, the forecast is for rain most of the week. It is far too soon for any predictions.

But we heard "them" tell us that winter snows were exceptionaly low this past winter and therefore there would be water shortages etc. Except "they" didn't mention how the coast snow pack is higher than normal. For those that have checked ski area reports, how were snow depths at those mountains this winter? Are "They" full of shit about low snow or not?

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Current snowpack levels:

  • Upper Fraser - 77%
  • Nechako - 89%
  • Middle Fraser - 91%
  • Lower Fraser - 101%
  • Thompson - 88%
  • Upper Columbia - 88%
  • Lower Columbia - 68%
  • Kootenay - 73%
  • Okanagan, Kettle - 73%
  • Similkameen - 85%
  • South Coast - 120%
  • Vancouver Island - 116%
  • Central Coast - 88%
  • Peace - 71%
  • Skeena - 68%

But the seasonal forecast is for higher than average temps and lower than average precip. It could easily happen.

"They" have been saying this year is going to be HORRIBLE for fires, already breaking records for the amount of fires….not good.

"They" can't predict weather from one day to the next…

seasonal forecasts generally show the right trend though - I use them mostly to decide for/against ski passes and they've been pretty useful

where are snowpacks measured? the snow line in the interior this year has been stupidly high, consequently the ground was dry in early spring like it was the middle of august. lots of snow up high this year but that does little good for the mjority of the forests
