Digger's rock

Digger's rock will truly be a legendary feature of mountain biking. Once described by digger himself as a 35 footer (more in the area of 15) it has seen its fair share of riders, both skilled and unskilled, ride off its edge. It was truly the thing to do if you wanted to make a name for yourself on the north shore. Let's see, you had wade simmons denounce it's legitimacy with a quick loogie off the top before smoothly sailing into its landing. You had Dangerous Dan bunny hopping off the top for that extra 6 inches of airtime. You had a young, ambitious geoff gulevich do it on his hardtail to the amusement of all of his friends. There was a young downhill racer named connor macleoud who hit it numerous times, much to the dismay of the warrantee guys at Devinci cycles. There was rosscofat, throwing his feet off the pedals on his La Toy 111, which to this day I still find to be the ugliest bike ever made. Then, there was Danny Brody who litterally posted on here every single morning that he was going to do it, only to disapoint everyone with some excuse as to why he couldn't.

People, this is a place to describe your stories of the legendary Digger's rock.

if its only 15' then its the biggest 15' i've ever stood next to…

that drop seems massive when u consider how far down/out the landing actually is…

I've watched 2 guys sessioning it a couple years ago. They were so good, they didn't even wear armour!

First guy was landing pretty cleanly, but the second guy had a sketchy landing or two.

Well, good thing buddy #2 didn't need any help carrying his bike back up to the road while holding in his kneecap in. That was gross.

So I can take it for granted then that he did not wear a full-face as well?

Summer 2003 - Gully hit it smooth, Hoots ragdolled and blew up his bike, and the Athertons wisely decided to give it a pass.

Cam, didn't you loan Hooty your front wheel so he could keep riding that day?

the landing was steeper when it was first built

ahh i think i have seen it from the road, a giant rock with no trail just an aproach to oblivian. I will have to gander it from the bottom side to see the true scope of this legend.

I actually filmed this. It was my very first time up Fromme, November 2002. We saw a bunch of people in the bush on the way up so we went in to have a look. The rider is one of Norco's test pilots on a prototype frame.

Gully was also there, he hit it for the first time. I think he said he was 15 at the time. If I remember correctly Cam was with the group as well.
