Dear Interbike
well said. i think it needs to be cross-posted here http://bb.nsmb.com/showthread.php?t=150528
And every year all this lip service is dished out among the showgirls, lap dances, and boobs and booty in Sin City.
sorry, I'm not seeing the problem

Dear Interbike,
I am clearly a bit insecure about my own attractiveness and have some self esteem issues.

I actually met the author last year in San Fran, pretty cool woman, and pretty sure of herself and abilities, both good and weaknesses, and she is attractive and can rip the legs of most riders as well.
I agree that women in bikinis are not needed to sell bike products. But I do enjoy sweaty fit women out ripping the trails. I guess I think it's ok to appreciate hot women doing their thing on bikes, but not just as a garnish to the newest carbon goodies, and if that is wrong I don't want to be right.
Is Interbike even relevant any more? Just seems like a Bro Show and a bit of a joke to me. All the decent stuff has already been launched at other shows anyway.

wow you are a ass
ok then…will this do.

Is it counter productive to ride on my exercise bike with a cocktail in hand?
I'm all for boobs but it's signs of a disparate industry/event… it getting old

Not this.
I don't think she's being unreasonable.
Consider if the situation were reversed and you had to wade through male exotic dancers in g-strings to learn about your favourite bike gear.
There's nothing better than an Orangina after cheating death with Digger.
Not this.

Hmmm now that you put it that way =/

Not at all… if Interbike were the ONLY method of actually finding out about my favourite bike gear, maybe that would hold some weight, but if I didn't like the way Interbike was presenting the goods, I simply would vote with my feet and not go…

Interbike is not the only one, Outdoor Retailer Show and any number of other electronics or trade shows all use sex to sell products.
Having met Selene, she's a strong woman, and I commend her for putting it out there like this.
Not all brands support the sex sells, so it might be interesting to know which companies do or do not use models. I'd rather talk to someone who actually knows wtf is going on…

I don't particularly care. I'm just playing devil's advocate.

People (including Selene) are making it out like the show floor is a giant strip club with a few bike parts here and there. Total nonsense.
People need to chill out about a few strippers in Vegas finding a daytime job from time to time, and stop blowing this out of proportion.
