Good info. Excited to see that come together! Will be better than pedaling the road even if it's steep, enduro bikes will finally have a use for their dinner plate granny gear at least.
Cypress - New Survey is up - TRAILS ABOVE 1200ft IMPACTED
Opening Day in the fall of 2024 is the plan, weather dependent of course.
In case you missed it, Deanne gave the first ever NSMBA presentation to DWV Council on Jan 15. Good to see them included with all the other stewardship groups. Even better to hear the positive feedback from Council. Mayor Sager spoke about the need for a safe cycling path, primarily for roadies. You can watch the video here.
That's actually a good idea. Block off the right lane with cones when the ski hill isn't operating, make it cycling only.

Wow that off road machine built climb will be really good. You could climb the BLT, go over and do a lap or two of the east side then a final climb to head back down SGS. Or shuttle up once to the east side trails, climb for laps then a big lap down the west side. It definitely opens up a lot of options.
I look forward to watching Council members ride up the new trail on opening day!
"Fall 2024" is September 1st isn't it? ;-)
Just in time for the Fall Haul triple crown...
Hey Alan!!! Gord B here.... so- Cypress is moving along! NSMBA at Council?! F yeah.
After that working group almost 9 years ago- it is clear the lower trails are toast.
Be well everyone- will check back in 7 years for the next update!

That's a great announcement from WV Parks, congratulations AlanB et. al.!
Cypress = the long game 6061.
On point!
I'm not sure a park designation is needed but anyways....

I'm not sure a park dedication will change anything except for adding additional steps should a future council be foolish enough to remove land from the park.
It would be wonderful if this would lead to more funding to Parks for maintaining trails and repairing bridges.
Sounds positive. Should help prevent land trades for development above 1200ft.
Touché. In other news we are finally getting temporary signage for the bottom of the sanctioned trails. Hopefully that keeps hikers etc. off the DH tracks.
