That's a bit steep, I had a rim and hub they laced it with new spokes and nipples for around $75. This was when Bill was unavailable at overtime.
Caps Bike Store - seriously????
I find that Caps does a really good job of being a "normal" store. Someone actually greets you as you walk in and asks if you need help. I was looking for tires and went to three other "niche" shops in various places and wasn't offered a hand in any of them. One was busy helping others but the other two were busy BS-ing with each other and couldn't be bothered with the guy rifling through the tires looking to spend some $$.
Bought my wife's bike from Caps in PoMo and they had it shipped to the Maple Ridge location same day, for free and I picked it up there because it was more convenient. Nothing but good experiences with them myself.
As for Secret, I don't know whether they are high or not, but they ripped my teeth out for a tune up a few years ago and I've never been back. Told them explicitly to not use the $70 cable housing they offered when I dropped it off but used it anyways and dinged me full pop for it and wouldn't discount when I brought it up. BUT like Bryan said, everyone has bad stories about somewhere. Ask anyone which cell provider they use - they hate either Bell, Rogers or Telus and likely hate who they are with now.
^ I like Telus, they have good service in teh mountains and have reasonable prices.
Hey Guys
I read all the responses and posts regarding Caps. I currently am one of the managers of the Langley location and numerous times on a daily basis I stop what im doing to help a customer in need free of charge ( I have done on the spot wheel trues, Brake bleeds, bb installs and non stop chain adjustments on kids BMX's all because I care). I understand the bad rap some stores have and I hate it myself. but I am a rider and will help a rider in need even if I am going to be yelled at. I have lost many of my personal tools over the years but it has not changed my outlook.
Cam from NSMB has known me for years as have many shop owners and racers around BC.
Like has been mentioned we as cyclists are a community and we need to stick together.
So if you are in the Langley area and come into Cap's ask for Tyson and I will do what I can to help you out.
I am not going to pretend I had great service or hide the fact I work there. I just want to get the word out that I personally will help if I can.
the Langley and Abbotsford stores are making many changes in the next few months to offer a better customer service based company.
I understand this is post 1 which is weird since I have been registered since 2003

The old guy is good for a laugh. In fact, I think he used to sell cars at Dams when I worked there as a kid.
"So what will it take for me to get you onto this Norco today"
Props to Tyson for posting up though. Hopefully the changes will be positive.
