Did the article say what the issue was?
found this on their facebook page
"Hi everyone, as you are likely aware by now, the City of Burnaby has decided to close all singletrack trails on the mountain to mountainbikers, and have only hiking access. This was done without consultation with any of the user groups, including ours. Their reasoning is due to user conflict and erosion. We feel that both of these issues can be addressed in a manner other than closing all trails to one user group in particular, and would have welcomed discussion with the City, but apparently they feel that discussion is unnecessary. We disagree, strongly, with this decision. In the coming days we will be announcing ways in which you, as a member of this largest user group, can help the City in reversing their decision.
We also recognize that hikers and dog walkers use the trails on Burnaby Mountain, and are not denying their access to the trails, however, we feel that removing access to the mountain biking community is a huge error in judgement by the City.
Although we do not support these closures, we advise riders to make their own decision on whether or not to ride trails that the City has deemed closed.
UPDATE: The City is now apparently saying that these closures are "proposed" rather than set in stone. So ride as you will!
Thank you."
Good news?
