Sitting on the really epic pics for a bit, but here's a taste of our stupidity…

The idea was to check out and see if there was a way to get into this big swale off of Zopkios Ridege, but the exposure at the top was too much. Needed way more rope and gear to get into that, but I think it's rideable.

Surprising about how much was actually rideable. 2/3's to 3/4's of the descent was no problem. The unrideable parts were because of either bad runouts or massive rock piles. The open rock faces were pretty solid.

in either case, he's still getting guided up by Smoke. He's the real hero. :)

Actually it was a first mission for everybody and a group effort. Margus, Smoke and Brett all did it together.

Tippie's old friend, Mark Usher, who owns www.coquihallalakeslodge.com which is just by the old toll booth, has hiked it a dozen times and helped them find a route to get up there. Go check it out sometimes. MTB, ski and splitboard, snowmobile and ATV tours. Go check it out sometime.

nice work you three.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Simmons never had his own movie:-P
and in his defence Tippie doesn't have huge satellite dishes for ears to give him that extra air.

oh snap.

Cool exploration mission. Bet there will be some banger shots even if it wasn't fully ridden clean. Congrats to all three.

Hi there! It's Tippie, making my first nsmb post! I'm still smiling after an epic adventure yesterday. Margus Riga, Johnny Smoke and I worked together planning a rad day climbing and mtb descending Yak Peak. It was old school mtn biking at it's best, chartering new territory and stepping into the unknown! Whatta rush!

We had all looked lustily at those granite slopes since the Coquihalla Highway opened for Expo '86. We sweated our way to the top hauling our big bikes but couldn't get to the line Smoke and I had analyzed from photo's and visuals due to huge cliffs, ice and snow on the ridge, and a 1200 foot vertical drop off the back. We ended up riding over 2/3's of the mtn down the riders left of the face and mostly followed the route we had climbed.

It was very exposed and the view was amazing from the summit as we could see Mt. Baker, the Cascade and Coastal Ranges, Nak Peak, Needle Mountain, and even glimpses of the interior! You should have seen the faces of the rockclimbers as they got to the peak and found us having lunch at the top with our Rocky Mountain Flatlines! It was scary pointing it down the granite and the gnarl singletrack in the bush but very satisfying to high five each other at the bottom. We sweated and laughed all day, got some killer shots and adrenaline rushes, and most importantly went home safe to our families. Go big…then go home. Thanks for props everyone and see you on the trails!

We stare at that slope every time we go past too. Wondering about ski options… and biking and how it would be very challenging!

Nice esthetic line!

I'm sure the shots will look epic!

And here I was, going to send you "You're washed up" Card!

I will admit to telling you that it was un-ride-able.

Congrats my man for killing it again and letting us all know that you've still got it in ya!

Glad everyone survived, and made it back to their rubber rooms safe and sound.
