Tested my Garmin camera on Fromme today and managed to put together this video riding Boundary. Includes all the features. One mistake due to fear (water + old woodwork can be scary…) and a random dab, otherwise pretty clean.

Looks pretty good! Was this the Garmin Virb? Which model? The video only went up to 720P, was that what you were recording on?

Nice work on the final log ride! I always have trouble getting my bars around that tree.

Nice riding!!!

I know the trail has some steep and technical sections, but it is crazy how the camera flattens out the trail. Make all those short little rolls look like nothing, when they are pretty steep going into pretty flat transitions. If only we could make it look that easy when sitting on the bike right on top of a steep nasty roll.

Was that trail built when bars weren't as wide?

Still think "chesty" gives better perspective. Just sayin'………

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

It's the original Virb model which only shoots at 1080x30 or 720x60. 1080x30 works fine if I set it up on a stump to film something, but the frame rate was just too slow when mounted as a head cam. I only paid around $120 for it, so I can't complain too much.

Tungsten, I completely agree that a chest mount is better, but they don't make a chest mount for this camera. I never really thought about it until I started to look at the footage and realize that you don't get any perspective or body movement.

On another note, did the stunt in the photo below get torn down or did I just miss it?

This is the original version of the Virb and only records in 1080/30 and 720/60. 30 FPS works fine if I'm just setting the camera up on a stump or something, but when using it as a helmet cam it was too blurry, so I've ended up using 720/60 now. The quality drop when I uploaded to Pinkbike was pretty noticeable as well. I'll play with the settings next time and see if it comes out any better. I only paid $120 so I can't complain.

Tungsten, totally agree about a chest mount! I never really thought about it until I sat down to watch the footage and realized you lose all reference to body and bike movement. They don't make chest mounts for this camera so I'm out of luck for the time being.

Nice bit of riding, thanks for that! Is this trail being actively maintained (looks like it is)?
