In case any of you didn't catch this on pinkbike the other week, this is the best explanation of ideal riding body position I have ever watched. He explains how it works and gives cues for what strength and flexibility you need to pull it off.

I have to say, it is the first video that has really improved my performance. I even use the same position climbing and find I get more power as it helps include my back, gluts and hamstrings more in my pedal stroke. I did find I had to lower my saddle slightly to accommodate the dropped heals pedaling. Interestingly, my mtb saddle height had migrated upwards and now my lower height is actually in line with my  road bike.

I'd be interested to hear what other think of the video.

It was really good because it provided good explanations for certain techniques. I’ve been riding with a group that are pretty new to off road riding and trying to get them to not sit all the time is challenging. And heels down is coming along better. I’d like to see him do one for climbing.

On my ride this afternoon, I really focussed on keeping my butt back and my legs mostly straight (I think I'm pretty good at keeping my heels down).  It definitely felt different than how I normally ride, but in a good way.  Less work by my arms, and more by "the hinge".  Will need to practice more.  Thanks for posting.

Fundamentals is the best MTB how to video ever! Your video is lacking in extra large Australians smashing flat corners on extra small Santa Cruz Blurs. https://youtu.be/rm1ANkGUQI8?t=203 edit: I don't know how to link to a specific time but aforementioned Australian is at 3:23. The whole video is gold!

Probably not his first (or last) rodeo.  Super classic!
