Did someone say owls? Here are some photos Ive taken over the years. Ive seen tons of them and agree that they're special and exciting to see.

I have seen one fly above me and the cool thing is how slow they can glide

I've also heard a bard owl at night while camping and they make a scary bunch of noise

Had a cool close encounter with this guy at the top of 7th Secret last fall. It sat there for at least 10 minutes letting me take pictures of it.

Me too! Same spot, although 3 or 4 years ago. I have a few phone pix somewhere but not as good as yours. My dude was beautifully camo'd against the tree - you can see this in a couple of dean's photos above - these birds look like tree trunks. Very cool.

I have also heard some bloodthirsty screams in the woods at night that I think/hope were owls.

nah, that was just putty out doing putty things in the forest.

Just a heads up. My girlfriend was running along Mel's trail at Burnaby mountain this evening and was attacked by an owl. She survived and seems to be ok. Could have been her pony tail that attracted it? who knows..

I hit an owl with my truck on the Coq this weekend if that helps.

same thing happened to my partner. We were riding in the city, and an owl swooped down, talons out, to attack what I assumed would be her pony tail. Once I pedaled up behind her, the owl quickly realized what the scene was, and flew off. He sat in a tree, and we stood (stunned) and collected a moment together.

He'd (or She'd) have fucked her skull up good.

Happened to me a couple weekends ago right around my house… barred owl. No hat, nailed me twice. Nothing like the feeling of talons digging into the cranium.

See them all the time.
Yesterday in our predawn dog walk one came right at my head wings spread, talons out and turned away about 5 feet in front of me. Maybe it was my scream that saved me!

Dark and wet morning on Uppercut/Burnaby mtn rode into a man and a women, thought they were together but actually she was attacked by an owl and he just ran to help her, they asked me to check her head bleeding as they didn't have lights. She said she was shouting and and trying to protect herself but owl kept coming, 3 time i think. Later it just kept watching from a tree. Creepy stuff early am... Wach out for angry owls!

I’ve had an owl attack a Kong on a rope dog toy I had thrown for my Labrador. Swooped at it several times. Dog could not care less.
