This is'nt even close to being scientific…. but under really good conditions I think it could definatly be pulled off……… I mean you see skate boarders droping like 10+feet to flat all the time and the dont kill their bodies because there rolling…… Unless they dont land on their feet then their screwed.. Any way if you land right on a bike you should be fine.. You also have to crazy!!!!

He won't land it unless the tranny is 300 feet long and 89 degrees. 25 feet for a gap is fuck all from 85 feet up. The body can only handle so much pressure when it hits the ground, suspension is even weaker on a mtb.

but you have to understand that when you are falling you are constantly accelerating by 9.8m/s.. so 80 ft and 10 ft are totally differnt things..

Does anyone have a picture of this drop?

Just so we can see how big it acually is? and how steep the landing is

that would be so sweet:D

Of course stuff can go wrong, I was only talking if it was possible for him to land it. It's also possible he gets kidnapped by aliens after dropping 15 feet from the lip…

Sure the stakes are high, its not me doing it, I like walking around and being able to poke chickies and all that, but obviously this guy has thought it out enough (or not enough) to make the moves on it.

The only thing I'm afraid of is when it comes down to put up or shut up time is he doing it because he wants it and believes he can stick it, or is he throwing it down because of the cameras and commitment other people have put into coming out and filming it.

I hope he is making the right decision for the right reasons, and best of luck to him with whatever he ends up doing.

i was curious…

for 85' x 25', with flat take off:

- air time 1.63s of 85' fall
- vertical velocity (down) at impact = 57km/h
- horiz vel needed (at take off) = 17 km/h, ignoring air friction

this means, to land "smoothly" and have his velocity vector inline with the tranny, you need a tranny that is 74

thats massive:|:|
the tranny would have to be so dman steep, and long, just so he has time to stop and such.
but i think its pretty stupid to do it, but thats just me

meh if he wants to go for it its up to the rider. sure it seems crazy now but remember when log rides were considered extreme. now almost anyone can do them.

Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.
