For several years, I've been logging each ride: Where and what trails I rode, who I rode with, which bike, and general comment on the ride. I don't use the facebook app, nor Strava or anything else, I used to just post it in a word doc, but more recently in a spreadsheet. Low-tech, I know but whatever.
In looking at my rides from 2012, I was surprised a bit. Had someone asked me what my riding was like this year, I'd have probably responded: Mostly Red and then Bear. Rarely at Ledgeview. Some woodlot, and then generally a scattering of everywhere else.
Memory is a funny thing, as here's my stats:
Bear: 12
Ledgeview: 10
Woodlot: 10
Sumas: 8
Red: 6
Vedder: 5
Misc: 16
Total: 67
XC Bike: 52
DH Bike: 14
Beat up old XC/Enduro with Rim brakes: 1
The trail I rode most was Shotgun ('Cause every woodlot ride ends on Shotgun for me.)
Second more common trail was Lower Ambidexcrous [HTML_REMOVED] Lazy Boy on Ledgeview. (Thanks, Matt!)
Oh, Yeah… This is the "The Shore" section… I rode Fromme once.
All in all, it was a good year riding. Rode with some great people, saw some great scenery. Ran into a bit of wildlife. Took my bikes along on every camping trip. Organized a Bike-oriented camping trip in Squamish with a bunch of my riding buddies (and plan on repeating this year). No injuries aside from the occasional scrap or bruise. Rode some new trails and re-acquainted myself with some I've not ridden a long time. Didn't manage to fit in Elk/Thurston this year and didn't make it out for the 7 summits, but had a great Lorna Lake floatplane adventure. Co-organized Bear Mtn challenge (Rain - ugh!). Participated for the 6th year on the FVMBA exec.
Thanks everyone that rode with me this year - I had a blast and I'm looking forward to another even better year. And, thanks to my wife for not objecting to so many days being out in the woods without her.
Ride on.
- Steve
