Does anyone else remembers watching the Ride Guide on A-Channel or the Outdoor Life Network back in the day? Well they've put a few of their classic episodes online, including this feature on the north shore from 1997. This segment literally changed my life and inspired me to move to Vancouver after I finished high school. Funny that it took me almost 20 years to finally start riding the shore, but better late than never.

Enjoy!

props to anyone who can figure out how to embed the video

Oh my. Kim, Ken, Digger, Chaz, all as veritable children.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Which trails are ridden in the video? I thought I saw the rock face on Expresso and the drop at the end of Lower Ladies, but couldn't tell for sure.

Big stupid and the rock below Baden Powell at skull I think are the 2 most featured. Great vid cheers. I remember it well.

The logs that Kim steed was trials ing over was ladies. The wheelie drop rock is the one below Baden Powell

Awesome….Also think I saw the stump entrance to Upper Oilcan?

A couple of year's ago, I pulled out the old '96 Dekerf Team SL with Judy fork and Steeds North Shore Big Ring and took it for a spin on Fromme. As I was heading into Floppy Bunny, a younger fellow (mid-20s?) on a nice Reign warned me that I might not want to try that trail because it had "gaps".
:eek2:

I'm gonna show this vid to my kid…he's met a couple of the guys in the video and thinks I'm just spewing old timer BS when I mention what we used to do with the bikes we rode with.

I love this video. Like golf club manufacturers that make bigger drivers with titanium core balls that any weekend warrior can use to out drive Gary Player so goes the bike manufacturing industry. Anyone with an argument about dumbing down the Shore needs to get off their Reign and go ask to borrow Mudrunner's Dekerf. ;)

(and grow a sweet stash like Digger while you're at it)

I moved out here from Calgary in 2005, but by then I was only riding trials. Then I lived in Victoria, Calgary, and Australia before coming back to Vancouver again. "Retired" from trials riding last fall and started mountain biking again around October.

Ah, your comment makes it sound like you moved here to Van 20 years ago but didn't ride any of the trails that inspired you to move.
