Loving the 1 x 11 group, any other thoughts?
I like it but find the jump between gears is a bit big. Off it is not really much of an issue but commuting it bugs me.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Straight up one or the other, for whatever, wherever riding.
Enduro 29 for the foreseeable future as my daily driver.
Next bike: 650b DH bike, so either an Intense 951 EVO or Transition TR500.

Originally I had picked out a bike that suited my riding style, taste and budget. But then I realized I'd never seen Brendan Fairclough whip one. So I bought the bike he was riding. It's totally inappropriate to the way I ride and the place I live and totally doesn't fit me. But Fairclough loaded it with steezeses so I must have it.

^that's the spirit!^ In all actuality, I have a 29'er for XC. Great for getting places, up and over, even rolling down - but hard to get off the ground, hard to get in the corners and "dance" the bike. And that fluidity is what makes mountain biking look good to the outside world.

I just got new XT brakes (BL-M785-B-L/BR-M785L - I-spec B compatible), and was planning to use this bracket that came with my XTR shifter (SL-M980) I bought in late 2013 to mount the shifter to the brakes.
Of course (I now learn), I-spec A and I-spec B are two different things, but this little bracket in the photo doesn't even appear to be an I-spec part.
What the heck is this part that came with my SL-M980?
What are my options? I think I'd need a SM-SL98B, but that seems ridiculous - is this really the only way to I-spec-B mount an XTR shifter that wasn't purchased as I-spec (it's a bar mount)?

That''s an Avid/SRAM part. Mounts a SRAM shifter to Avid brakes and or Reverb remote.

it must be for my Reba lockout remote then. bummer.
if you look on the side of your lever and got this tiny hold to fix the cylinder part of i-spec mount then you have I-spec B brakes
and this is what I-spec A levers look like where it mates with shifter
I know of adapters for mismatching Avid brake levers to Shimano I-Spec A, and
Shimano brakes to Avid shifters,
But I do not know of any I-Spec A to I-Spec B adapters…
